Convert SRT to TXT plain text
Strip cue numbers and timecodes from a subtitle file and get readable text: flowing paragraphs, one line per subtitle, or a transcript with short [m:ss] timestamps.
- Instant, in your browser
- Batch files
- Nothing uploaded
Three output styles
- Paragraphs joins subtitles into sentences and starts a new paragraph wherever there was a pause of more than 1.5 seconds. Best for reading, quoting and turning a video into an article.
- One line per subtitle keeps the original segmentation, handy for translation memory tools or spreadsheets.
- With timestamps prefixes each line with its start time, the format used for podcast show notes and interview logs.
HTML-style tags such as <i> and line breaks inside a subtitle are removed in every mode, so the text is clean.
Questions people ask
How do I convert SRT to text?
Drop the .srt above or paste it, choose paragraphs, lines or timestamps, then copy the text or download the .txt file.
Can I convert VTT or ASS to text too?
Yes. The input format is detected automatically, so VTT, SBV and ASS files work the same way.
Does it keep speaker names?
If the names are written in the subtitle text (for example “ANNA: Hello”), they are kept. WebVTT voice tags are removed.
