Your Privacy Matters

SubtitleWave is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your videos and data never leave your device.

Data Collection & Storage

• Videos: All video processing happens locally in your browser. Videos are never uploaded to any server.
• Subtitles: Generated subtitles and project data are stored exclusively in your browser's IndexedDB storage.
• User Settings: Customization preferences are saved locally using browser storage (localStorage/IndexedDB).
• No Server Storage: We do not store any of your videos, subtitles, or personal data on our servers.

Third-Party Services

SubtitleWave operates entirely in your browser and does not share data with third-party services by default.

• Web Speech API: The free transcription feature uses your browser's built-in Web Speech API. Audio is processed by your browser, subject to your browser vendor's privacy policy.
• Optional AI Upgrade: If you choose to use OpenAI Whisper transcription (optional), you must provide your own API key. Audio data will be sent to OpenAI for processing according to their privacy policy. This is entirely optional and user-initiated.

Data Retention

All data is stored locally on your device and under your control:

• You can delete individual projects from your history at any time.
• You can clear all project data using the "Clear All History" feature.
• Clearing your browser data/cache will remove all SubtitleWave data from your device.

Cookies & Tracking

SubtitleWave does not use cookies or tracking scripts. We do not collect analytics or usage data.

Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

• You have complete control over your data
• You can export your projects at any time (SRT/VTT format)
• You can delete your data at any time
• We cannot access your data as it never leaves your device

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page.
