By accessing and using SubtitleWave ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provisions of this agreement. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
SubtitleWave is a browser-based subtitle generation and editing tool that processes videos entirely on your device. The Service includes:
- Local video processing using browser APIs
- AI-powered subtitle generation using Web Speech API
- Optional AI transcription via Vercel AI Gateway (when user provides API key)
- Subtitle editing, customization, and export features
- Local storage of projects in your browser (IndexedDB)
3. Privacy-First Architecture
SubtitleWave operates entirely in your browser. Your videos never leave your device unless you explicitly choose to use optional AI transcription features. All processing happens locally on your computer.

4. User Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Ensuring you have the rights to process any videos you upload
- Complying with copyright laws and regulations in your jurisdiction
- Verifying the accuracy of generated subtitles before distribution
- Maintaining the security of any API keys you provide for optional features
- Using the Service in compliance with all applicable laws
5. No Warranty - Service "As Is"
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. We do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
- Subtitle transcription will be 100% accurate
- The Service will meet your specific requirements
- Any errors or defects will be corrected
Subtitle accuracy depends on audio quality, browser capabilities, and other factors beyond our control. Always review generated subtitles for accuracy before use.
6. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SubtitleWave SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.
7. Browser Compatibility
The Service requires a modern web browser with support for:
- HTML5 video playback
- IndexedDB for local storage
- Web Speech API (for free transcription)
- WebAssembly (for video processing)
Some features may not work in older browsers or browsers with disabled JavaScript.
8. Modifications to Service
We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service at any time, with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the Service.
9. Intellectual Property
The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by SubtitleWave and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You retain all rights to videos and content you process using the Service. Generated subtitles become your property.
10. Third-Party Services
When you use optional features that connect to third-party services (such as Vercel AI Gateway for transcription), you are subject to those services' terms and conditions as well.
11. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including breach of these Terms.
Upon termination, you may clear your browser's local storage to remove all data stored by the Service.
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
13. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify users of any changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
Your continued use of the Service after any changes indicates your acceptance of the new terms.
